Barbara's husband Paul learned to make this drink from his father, who once owned a liquor store in Treasure Island, Florida. We've adopted it as our own. It was family tradition that Holiday Drinks would
"officially" be made during December. But they're so good that we keep extending the starting and ending dates. (Pretty soon, we'll be making them year-round.)
The recipe is simple:
1/3 vodka
1/3 cranberry juice
1/3 7-Up
We've made some adjustments over the years. First...if you're going to be drinking them all day, you'd be well advised to reduce the amount of vodka. For those of you who enjoy a really sweet drink, you can substitute cranapple or cran-raspberry for the cranberry juice. And, finally, ginger ale is fine if you don't have any 7-Up.
